DI ( Destination Imagination)

DI is when you go and perform a skit that you have worked on for many months, in front of Judges( and anyone that wants to watch). When you perform you are also competing against other kids from different schools. The parents are NOT allowed to help you with anything(including props) in your skit. After the skit you go into a separate room and do an "instant challenge"where they give you a few materials (or they might not) and they tell you what you will do, then you get a few minutes to prepare, then more minutes to actually do it for them.
Our DI skit was called "Video Lit Hits" where we had to dramatically re-tell a story from a book (we had to include choreography & singing). My groups story was Curious George, and I was Curious George! After ALL of that, everyone meets either in the schools gym or somewhere big and ahead of time everyone is given a bag with goodies in it. While the Judges are working on who they liked everyone trades their goodies. When the Judges call for every ones attention that is when the butterfly's come. If you get 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place you go to state where you compete against people from all over the world. Well finally the Judges came to our skit (and there were nine groups competing against my group), we were all terrified. They came to 4th place, then to 3rd place(and we were all scared), then to 2nd place(by this time we knew we weren`t going to go to state) then to first place, we sat there just staring at each other not knowing what was going to happen. The lady FINALLY said "WESTERN CREATIVITY CREW!!!" We jumped up and were screaming like crazy!!!! We made it to state, plus we got medals!! ( We also made it into the paper)
